Sink Ya Teeth unveil a special cut from their forthcoming debut album, the track is called Pushin and was recorded by Norwich duo Gemma Cullingford and Maria Uzor at home in the summer of 2017.
Pushin clocks in at 3 minutes 30 and dives straight into 80’s inspired disco and would file well amongst cuts by LCD Soundsystem and Daft Punk. The minimal take on bass-driven synth-pop, with an ear for a hook, places their third single directly on the dancefloor, with enough groove and cow bell to bring fans of New Young Pony Club, CSS and Tom Vek back from 2008 with a sharp jolt.
Sink Ya Teeth explain how dance can be a form of exorcism on Pushin – “It’s about addiction, essentially… Not necessarily to drugs, more about just looking for a way out when things get a bit ropey. And then that almost spiritual feeling you get when the pressure is released. You gotta be able to dance it off. “Dance till you feel better” as James Brown said”.
