Produced by Girl Band‘s Daniel Fox, Eyesore & The Jink drop unrelenting new single ‘Swill’.
Unfortunately for me, for it makes anything I say somewhat redundant, Swill – the latest offering from Liverpool trio Eyesore & The Jinx – is best summed up by the band’s vocalist Josh Miller: “.. a three minute and thirty-nine second love song dedicated to the odious, perpetrators of moral panic, in all of its loathsome forms.”
Swill is panicky. It’s a restless, agitated, and unrelenting attack on the moral panic stirred up by the right-wing press, complete with feverish vocals and frenzied instrumentation. It’s completely exhilarating.
And while I’d no doubt welcome Swills’ blast of pure energy at whatever time, in whatever climate, it’s especially welcome now. The very least we can have as comfort when the world is going to shit around us, is music – and it certainly doesn’t hurt when that music does a perfect job of summing up exactly how we feel. In Swill, Eyesore & The Jinx capture a universal angst in a damn good track – no easy feat.
