LUMER – ‘Homicide’ – The powerful, dark post-punk underbelly of Hull

Set to support Leeds post-punk heavyweights AUTOBAHN in their native Hull (25/01) as they tour their excellent new record The Moral Crossing, Hull’s LUMER jet down to the big smoke to play a show at east London gem the Sebright Arms. The line up includes the ramshackle rock of Peckham band Peeping Drexels, London’s MATA and Leeds post-punk band Treeboy & Arc.

LUMER possess a natural grit and a dark underbelly which swarms all over their most recent single Homocide, released through Hull indie label Warren Records. The release is on the surface a powerful and energetic post-punk wall of sound, hypnotic, abrasive and therapeutic in equal measure. There is a human message behind the hard hitting quartet’s sound as vocalist Alex Evans explains “‘Homicide’ is about the destructive effect a person can have on another, and the anxieties behind doubt.”
